High winds expected for Las Vegas Sunday night into Monday

Blustery winds will continue into the workweek before temperatures tick up to end the week, according to the National Weather Service.

A high wind warning issued by the weather service that went into effect at 7 p.m. Sunday will last until 7 a.m. Monday. Winds between 30 and 40 mph could gust up to 60 mph on the west and south edges of town, meteorologist Christ Outler said.

“You always see people with pool furniture in their pool with wind speeds like these,” meteorologist Andy Gorelow said Sunday morning.

Monday will again be windy, with sustained winds blowing between 20 and 30 mph, with gusts upwards of 40 mph, Outler said. Tuesday will be breezy, too.

“It’s gonna hang around for a few days,” Outler said.

The weather service forecasts a high temperature Monday of 59 degrees. The high will reach a chillier 55 degrees Tuesday afternoon. The overnight low Tuesday will be 38.

The Las Vegas Valley can expect high temperatures near 57 on Wednesday and 62 on Thursday and Friday, Outler said.
