Below average temperatures coming for Las Vegas

Updated September 5, 2017 - 6:58 pm

Recent above-normal temperatures in the Las Vegas Valley will drop below normal by the weekend, the National Weather Service said.

Tuesday, the hottest day this week, reached 107 degrees. The weather service said there is a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms with an occasional shower overnight Tuesday.

“The main impact of the storms will be gusty winds,” meteorologist Jim Harrison said.

Temperatures in the valley will begin to decrease starting Wednesday and Thursday with highs of 102 degrees and 101 degrees, respectively.

“We’re going from well above normal to well below,” Harrison said.

Thunderstorms could return to the valley Friday and Saturday. The 30 percent chance of rain is expected to bring heavy rainfall and flash flooding to parts of the valley, the weather service said.

Friday’s forecast high is 94 degrees, followed by a 92-degree high on Saturday, about 7 degrees below normal. The average temperature high for this time of year is 97 degrees, Harrison said.
