Updated May 24, 2017 - 8:04 pm

Wednesday was the hottest day of the year so far, but temperatures are expected to cool down slightly for the rest of the week, according to the National Weather Service said.

Wednesday’s 102 degree high was just 3 degrees shy of the record, meteorologist Chris Outler said.

Thursday will reach 96 degrees; Friday, 90; Saturday, 92; and Sunday, 97. Lows are expected to remain in the low 70s, according to the weather service.

Thursday will have winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, which will decrease to 10 to 20 mph by Friday, Outler said.

Skies should be sunny and clear through Sunday, according to the weather service.
