Metro investigating 2 separate shootings in east Las Vegas Valley

Las Vegas police were investigating two separate shootings in the east valley Tuesday afternoon.

The first happened about 1:15 p.m. on the 4200 block of Middlesex Avenue, west of the Washington Avenue and Lamb Boulevard intersection, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Larry Hadfield said.

One person was shot in the neck and taken to University Medical Center’s trauma unit. It was unclear what condition the person was in as of 3:30 p.m.

The second shooting happened about 30 minutes later and eight miles south. There, in the Villas at Mountain Vista apartment complex — on the 5400 block Mountain Vista Street near Russell Road and Nellis Boulevard — one person was shot in the abdomen, Hadfield said.

That person was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center’s trauma unit, and the condition of that person was also unknown as of 3:30 p.m.

It’s not clear what led to either shooting, which were not related, Hadfield said.
