Katie Couric interviews Skrillex — VIDEO

Move over Diplo, you and all your can’t-stop-listening-to-it “Doctor Pepper”dopeness, there’s something leaner.

Think working with a K-Pop star is left field? Naw. You’ve probably already got the drop on this, but in case you haven’t, your boy Skrillex is about to one up you. He’s collabing with someone way more out of the box than CL. Oh, and Doctor Pepper? Pshaw! Skrilly’s working on something way sweeter. How about a track about maple syrup? Uh-huh. With Katie Couric. And boom goes the dynomite.

This revelation comes courtesy of a suprisingly decent interview that Couric, Yahoo’s global news anchor, did with Skrillex recently. Skrillex comes off as completely amiable and down to earth. Other insights gleaned: Skrillex, “who’s been whipping audiences for a frenzy since 2011,” says he isn’t mad at Zac Efron for “We Are Your Friends,” his upcoming flick with an EDM storyline, even if he thinks the trailer looks corny; he’s not trying to make music for old people (no offense, Katie), and he surmises that it won’t be long before you see babies making music. No, literal babies, as in “goo, goo, gaga.”

On a related note, apparently, you might want to keep an eye out for a young dude named Marshmello, whom Couric greeted with a hearty “Yo, yo, you!” (Grandma much, Katie, seriously?). If TrollPhace’s experience offers any indication of what’s in store for Marshmello, the kid should brace himself, as his stock is absolutely soar; The King of the Dubstep has blessed him with an enviable co-sign for his “Where Are U Now” remix, which is pretty fresh, actually. Check out the full interview below to see Skrillex invoke the Fresh Prince, with a “Parents just don’t understand” reference.
