Accidental Alba

The genius behind Jessica Alba's "TRL" look is the effortless facade it gives. The easy-on-the-eyes actress appears to have put as much thought into this outfit as she does her movie selections: little to none. But, don't let this seemingly thrown-together ensemble fool you. We're willing to bet it's as "spontaneous" as the inevitable rear view shot she gives paparazzi every summer while on all fours in a bikini.

The calculating begins with the gray, almost-tulip skirt. Surely, her stylist plucked it because gray rules the color school this season. But, the pleats, pockets and protruding belt loops somehow manage to give Alba's hanger-like physique some volume. Bravo to that feat.

Next, the crisp white T-shirt that epitomizes the whole "I'm not even trying" tone. We'd buy it if it didn't pay homage to an actor (Steve McQueen) Alba probably took for a designer before looking him up on IMDB.com. We figure it's the work of her publicist: "It will make you look like you really know your field and want to pay respect to the beautiful thespians before you."

Her triple-tiered bangles show up to support the T-shirt. Together, they tell "TRL" viewers Alba's just like them.

The matte tights and oxford heels enter the picture merely because the fashion runways deemed them season staples. Plus, they make the statement "very modest meets menswear."

As much fun as we can poke at how difficult a task the "effortless" look can really be (don't even get us started on her hair and makeup), Alba and her style team pulled it off fabulously. No doubt, she feels comfortable and we don't have to go into how flawless the men's hot-list regular comes across. All in all, we, too, have to join the masses and swoon.

Hopefully, you'll do the same over the items we selected to mimic Alba's look. Notice you can accomplish this one with a little more than $100. Just so you don't have to worry about it, we're patting ourselves on the back for you.
