Special foods served for Chinese New Year

A number of Las Vegas-area restaurants are planning special menus and dishes for the Chinese New Year. Here's a selection:

Blossom, Aria, 3730 Las Vegas Blvd. South; 877-230-2742 or www.aria.com. Cantonese dim sum menu, with signature dishes such as steamed barbecue pork bun and bird's nest egg custard, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. through Feb. 12. Blossom also is featuring the Chinese spirit Baijiu for the holiday.

China Poblano, Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, 3708 Las Vegas Blvd. South; 702-698-7000 or www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com. Cured quail egg yolk with caviar and rose wine, $16.88 for three pieces; seasonal vegetable with cilantro dough and soy seasoning, $12.88; crispy snapper with scallions and ginger, $36.88; whole quail with dragonfruit, $18.88; braised pork belly with hand-pulled noodles and pickled carrots, $18.88; whole abalone with superior congee, $26.88; oyster sauce with black bean crumbs, $10.88; black sesame flan with lychee sorbet and caramelized walnuts, $11.88, Feb. 7-22. Braised dried oyster and black moss with oyster sauce, Manila clam with black bean sauce and Chinese napa and bean thread, black fungus, black moss, snow peas and Chinese mushroom, $28.88, Feb. 8.

Grand Wok and Sushi Bar, MGM Grand, 3799 Las Vegas Blvd. South; 702-891-8670 or www.mgmgrand.com. Special menu with such dishes as pan-fried filet mignon, braised sea bass and sesame mochi with bean powder, 11 a.m. to midnight Feb. 8, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Feb. 9-11.

Holsteins Steaks and Buns, Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, 3708 Las Vegas Blvd. South; 702-698-7940 or www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com. Crispy beer-braised pork belly bao buns with pea tendrils, cucumbers, green onion, hoisin sauce, sweet chili sauce and peanuts, through Feb. 28.

Dim sum menu from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and special a la carte menu from 5:30 to 10 p.m. through Feb. 14, with such dishes as steamed golden oyster and sea moss, braised beef brisket with five spice and daikon and breaded stuffed crab claw with shrimp pasta.

Special dinner Feb. 18 with dishes including prawn Hargow dumplings, stir-fried Manila clams and soy-glazed Kurobuta pork shanks.
