AviSight Drone Academy holds its second course Tuesday

Drone-training programs are popping up all over the country, including Nevada, at a pace that reflects the rapid growth of the drone industry. A Las Vegas-based aerospace and remote sensing services company, AviSight, is holding its second “drone academy” within two months on Tuesday.

The $499 one-day course for the beginner, the $899 two-day course for the professional, and the $1,599 four-day course for “those wanting to become a Drone Master,” according to the Avisght website, also serve a broader purpose.

“We anticipate we’re going to need a lot of drone pilots in the future,” said Ron Futrell, AviSight’s vice president of sales and marketing. “We’re not having this academy and promising people jobs, but at the same time we are going to keep a pool of who the top drone pilots are.”

AviSight’s first drone academy only had four students; they’re shooting for 60 students in round two.

AviSight is one of several drone training programs in Nevada. Others include Reno-based AboveNV and Las-Vegas based Global Robot And Drone Deployment Corp.
