Police investigate officer-involved shooting near downtown

Las Vegas police responded to an officer-involved shooting about 2 p.m. near downtown Tuesday afternoon.
Officers responded to a 1:30 p.m. call about a suicidal person the 3000 block of East Charleston Boulevard, near Mojave Road.
When officers arrived, a man began throwing large landscape rocks at the patrol car. As the officer tried to avoid the rocks, the suspect began chasing the car, according to police.
Additional officers then arrived on the scene.
Police said the suspect pulled a black cellphone from his pocket and pointed it at police. An officer then fired at least one round. No one was struck and no injuries were reported.
The suspect was arrested and the investigation is ongoing.
