Allegiant flight makes emergency landing at McCarran after tire deflates

An Allegiant Air flight made an emergency landing at McCarran International Airport after a tire deflated during takeoff.

Allegiant Flight 500 took off from McCarran at 9 a.m. heading for Indianapolis, Allegiant Air spokeswoman Jessica Wheeler said. During takeoff, one of the aircraft’s tires deflated.

“The plane safely left the ground and declared an emergency to return back,” Wheeler said.

The plane safely landed at 11:14 a.m., she said. The craft was inspected by an Allegiant maintenance team and McCarran fire crews, Wheeler said. On board were 202 passengers and seven crew members.

“We are currently working to secure a crew and aircraft to get passengers on their way as soon as possible,” Wheeler said. The passengers were given meal vouchers.

It was unknown when the flight would resume.

A McCarran representative was not available for comment.
