Coroner identifies 3 who died in Moapa Valley crash

The Clark County coroner on Monday identified the three people who died in a Moapa Valley crash Sunday afternoon.

Michael Brandt, 56, Ashley Piena, 25, and Carlan Michael Brandt, 20, all of Henderson, were ejected from a silver Toyota sport utility vehicle and were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

Just after 3 p.m., the vehicle carrying five people rolled over on Interstate 15 at mile marker 75, trooper Jason Buratczuk said.

Four of the five passengers were ejected from the vehicle, Buratczuk said. The two surviving passengers, a male and female, were airlifted to University Medical Center, he said.

Whether impairment, driver distraction or a vehicle issue factored in the crash is unknown, Buratczuk said. The case is still under investigation.
