Henderson motorcyclist dies after Saturday night DUI crash

A Henderson motorcyclist died after a Saturday night DUI crash, police said.

The motorcyclist was driving westbound on Warm Springs Road at about 9 p.m. Saturday when a driver in a sedan struck him from behind. The motorcycle hit a guardrail and the motorcyclist was thrown off. He sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sedan’s driver, 38-year-old Michael Stanley, continued another 800 feet before stopping his car and trying to run away. Henderson police caught and arrested him for driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an injury crash. Police said speed and alcohol are factors in the crash.

The Clark County Coroner will release the deceased’s identity when his next of kin have been notified.

This is the 10th traffic-related death Henderson police have investigated this year.
