Nevada State College president awarded 3 percent raise

Nevada State College president Bart Patterson was given a new 3½-year contract by the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents on Friday.

Patterson has led the Henderson college since the Regents appointed him to the position in April 2012. Prior to that, he had served as interim president since November 2011.

The Regents rewarded Patterson with a 3 percent increase in base compensation bringing his total compensation to about $260,000.

“I’m thrilled to continue to lead the college and its terrific growth,” said Patterson afterwards.

The 12-year-old institution has grown quickly since its inception, from 177 students to more than 3,400.

The campus is also expanding with two new buildings under construction expected to be complete by fall 2015 — a student activities and administration building and a nursing, science and education building.
