Pedestrian injured after being hit by vehicle in central Las Vegas

A pedestrian was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle in the central valley Thursday morning, Las Vegas police said.

About 9:15 a.m., Metro received a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Harmon Avenue and Paradise Road, spokesman Jesse Roybal said. Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicated an unidentified white man was northbound crossing Harmon Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk as a Ford Fusion was traveling west. As the pedestrian crossed the Ford’s lane, the front of the Ford made contact with the pedestrian, police said in a release.

The pedestrian was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with critical injuries. The driver of the Ford remained at the scene and was not injured.

Westbound Harmon at Paradise, which was closed for the investigation, has re-opened.

This collision remains under investigation.
