Valley High teacher arrested on suspicion of having sex with student

Valley High teacher Jillian Lafave was arrested earlier this month on suspicion of having sex with a student, court records show.

"She's assigned to home," Clark County School District spokeswoman Melinda Malone said Monday of Lafave's status.

The teacher, arrested Jan. 15, will continue to be employed and paid by the school district, pending the outcome of the investigation. Malone did not know what Lafave taught at the high school, near the intersection of Vegas Valley Drive and Eastern Avenue.

Lafave has been formally charged with a felony count of having sex with a student between the ages of 16 and 17.
