Woman dies after being hit by car in Henderson

A pedestrian died after being hit by a car Thursday night in Henderson.

Henderson spokesperson Keith Paul said a 69-year-old woman was crossing Eastern Avenue near Horizon Ridge Parkway outside of a crosswalk about 8 p.m. She was hit by a Honda Ridgeline that was southbound on Eastern.

The woman, later identified by the Clark County coroner’s office as Henderson resident Juana Lobos-Penaloza, was taken to St. Rose Hospital — Siena Campus where she was pronounced dead. Her cause and manner of death have not yet been released.

The driver, Quang Nguyne, 41, of Henderson, stayed at the scene and cooperated with Henderson police, Paul said in a news release. Nguyne was not injured. Police said speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

This is the ninth accident-related fatality in Henderson police jurisdiction in 2016 and the fourth involving a pedestrian.
