25,000 more Nevadans registered to vote in July
CARSON CITY — The number of active registered voters in Nevada grew by nearly 25,000 in July over the previous month, with all political affiliations reporting gains, the secretary of state’s office reported Monday.
Of the state’s 1.3 million active registered voters, nearly 40 percent are registered with the Democratic Party and 35 percent are Republicans.
Statewide, Democrats hold a 72,387-voter advantage over the GOP. In Clark County the gap is wider, with Democrats outnumbering Republicans by 123,499, the report showed.
Total active Republican registrations increased by 5,938, or 1.29 percent in July from June, the secretary of state said, while total active Democratic voter registration rose by 8,564, or 1.62 percent.
About 19 percent or 262,417 Nevada voters are registered as nonpartisan.
Voters affiliated with the Independent American Party total 59,176; while 10,868 are members of the Libertarian Party and 12,455 are members of other minor political parties.
