Nevada GOP chairman names Las Vegas as capital at Republican National Convention

CLEVELAND – The entertainment capital of the world got a poorly worded plug at the Republican National Convention on Tuesday.

When Nevada Republican Party Chairman Michael McDonald announced the delegate counts for Nevada, he described the state, saying this was coming “from the great shores of Lake Tahoe to the most entertaining capital city — Las Vegas, Nevada.”

“We are here to cast our votes,” McDonald declared from the convention floor.

Delegates from Carson City — which is Nevada’s capital — Las Vegas and elsewhere in the Silver State cheered loudly.

Delegates nationwide may have experienced Las Vegas for themselves if not for Cleveland. Nevada’s largest city made a run for hosting the 2016 convention, but Cleveland got it instead.
