England’s Tom Middleton leads WSOP Main Event at Day 4 dinner break

Tom Middleton, a professional poker player from England, owns the unofficial lead at the dinner break Friday on Day 4 of the World Series of Poker’s $10,000 buy-in No-limit Texas Hold ’em World Championship.
Middleton was sitting on approximately 3.285 million chips when play stopped at 7:15 p.m. and steadily moved up the leaderboard throughout the afternoon sessions at the Rio Convention Center. Middleton has cashed in 13 WSOP events in his career, including a third-place finish during a 2011 event.
Australian James Obst is in second place (3.13 million) and is playing at the ESPN feature table with top poker pro Shaun Deeb (1.49 million) and former Main Event winners Greg Raymer (655,000) and Ryan Riess (375,000).
Brazilian Rafael Moraes, one of the Day 2 chip leaders, is third with 3.1 million.
The Main Event, which continued late Friday, started with 6,737 entrants and 380 remain in contention for the $8 million first prize. All the remaining players are guaranteed $28,356.
Professional poker player Antonio Esfandiari, who entered Day 4 in seventh place, was eliminated during the afternoon sessions.
