Former Rebel Bryce Dejean-Jones suspended after arrest

Former UNLV guard Bryce Dejean-Jones will not face charges of operating a drug house, but Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg suspended the transfer for Friday night’s game against Iowa.

A judge in Story County, Iowa said there was no probable cause to charge Dejean-Jones. He was arrested hours earlier on Thursday morning when police were called to his apartment to investigate a noise complaint.

According to jail records, he was cited for a noise complaint, a violation of nuisance party regulations and “hosting a drug house-marijuana.”

An Ames police commander told the Des Moines Register that officers responded to a noise complaint at Dejean-Jones’ apartment, smelled burnt marijuana, got a search warrant and found marijuana on a dresser in the apartment. Ames police told the Ames Tribune that it had worked with the basketball staff on previous occasions regarding noise problems at the apartment.

Dejean-Jones, 22, transferred to Iowa State to play his senior season. He is averaging 17.1 points a game and is the Cyclones second-leading scorer.

In addition to UNLV, he also previously played at Southern California.
