UNLV adds another recruit from Chicago

UNLV has landed its second basketball player in a week from Chicago.

Zion Morgan, a 6-foot-4-inch guard from Chicago’s Kenwood Academy, committed to the Rebels on Thursday.

“After a tough recruiting process and discussing with my family and coaches, I’ll be attending UNLV this year!” Morgan tweeted.

On Monday, Ben Coupet, a 6-7 forward from Simeon Career Academy in Chicago, signed with the Rebels.

According to 247 Sports, Morgan also was offered scholarships by Valparaiso, Bradley, Illinois-Chicago, Toledo and Western Michigan. He averaged 14.7 points, 5.0 assists and 2.2 steals last season.

Morgan is the fifth recruit to commit to first-year coach Marvin Menzies. UNLV now has at least nine players on its roster.

Also, 6-11 center Jordy Tshimanga of The MacDuffie School in Granby, Massachusetts, might visit UNLV this weekend. He had planned to visit Oklahoma State but canceled the trip.

Tshimanga is listed by 247 Sports composite rankings as a three-star recruit who has received scholarship offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Oklahoma State, Nebraska and Minnesota.
