Huntington Beach, California Pounded by Hail Storm
Huntington Beach got a surprise hail storm on Monday as a winter storm descended on Southern California.
A layer of hail an inch deep coated the beach, according to the National Weather Service.
Authorities warned residents about lightning throughout Southern California and a flash flood warning was briefly in place for Orange County.
The hail created the illusion of a snow-covered winter wonderland, and people were quick to get photos of the phenomenon on social media. Check out some of the photos below.
The National Weather Service in Las Vegas said this area could expect hail on Monday afternoon, as well.
