Warmer temperatures, dry conditions on tap for final week of January

Warmer temperatures and dry conditions on tap this week with Monday promising mostly sunny skies and a high close to 60 degrees.

Sunday's high temperature reached 63 degrees, National Weather Service meteorologist Chad Shafer said.

Monday's conditions should be similar to Sunday, with the forecast high of 57 degrees likely to increase toward the 60s as well. If the clouds continue to clear, expect warmer temperatures, Shafer said.

A "pretty substantial warmup" is expected next week, Shafer said. A warming trend after Tuesday could raise temperatures "potentially into the upper 60s," which would mean temperatures nearly 10 degrees above average.

Next week is also expected to remain dry in the valley. Mount Charleston and the Spring Mountains may receive a "dusting" of snow, but "nothing significant," Shafer said.

Wind speeds are expected to remain in the 10 to 20 mph range Monday.

Overall, the above-average temperatures, dry weather, clear skies and low wind speeds should make for a week of "very pleasant weather," Shafer said.
