Adventurer Fairfax, 74, dies in Henderson

John Fairfax, the first known person to row alone across the Atlantic Ocean, has died at his Henderson home. He was 74. The self-described “professional adventurer” died Feb. 8 of an apparent heart attack in Henderson, his wife, Tiffany, said Sunday.

ESPN fired an employee responsible for an offensive headline about Knicks sensation Jeremy Lin. The headline Friday on ESPN’s mobile website was used for a story about a New York loss in which Lin had nine turnovers. The headline was an idiom that contains a word that also can be used as a slur against Chinese.

A representative for Stephen Colbert says “The Colbert Report” will return Monday after a sudden break due to the ailing health of the star’s mother. Colbert is expected to address his absence on Monday. His 91-year-old mother, Lorna Colbert, is ill.

Wynn exercises forced buyout of board member Okada

Wynn Resorts Ltd. said Sunday it has deemed Kazuo Okada, a former close business associate of Steve Wynn, as “unsuitable” based on an internal investigation and has forcibly bought his shares in the company at a steep discount.
