Woman hit, killed in crosswalk by pickup in east Las Vegas

Updated September 25, 2017 - 2:28 am

A 57-year-old woman died early Monday after she was hit by a pickup truck in a hit-and-run crash in the east valley.

Metropolitan Police Department Lt. David Gordon said the crash was called in just after midnight at the intersection of Nellis Boulevard and Vegas Valley Drive.

The woman was crossing Nellis Boulevard in a marked crosswalk when the walk signal timed out, Gordon said. All the vehicles in the intersection remained stopped for the woman crossing except for a red pickup in the middle lane.

The truck struck the woman and left the scene. Gordon said the woman was hospitalized at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where she died.

The Clark County coroner’s office will identify the woman once her family has been notified. Her death marks the 96th traffic-related fatality investigated by Metro this year.

Anyone with information is asked to call Metro’s collision investigation section at 702-828-3786 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
