Police investigating homicide in central Las Vegas

Updated November 6, 2017 - 8:47 am

Las Vegas police are investigating after a man was found dead on a sidewalk in the central valley after being shot.

Shortly after 8 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area near East Karen Avenue and Sherwood Street, according to Metropolitan Police Department Sgt. Jon Scott.

Arriving officers found a man on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds on the 2600 block of Sherwood Street, Scott said. The man was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he later died.

The man was alone when he was shot, Scott said. There may have been a vehicle involved, but police have no description of that vehicle or the shooter, he said.

The victim will be identified by the Clark County coroner once his family has been notified. The man’s death marks the 216th homicide in the county this year, and the 188th homicide investigated by Metro.
