Dining Pick of the Week: Bite

Bite

4165 S. Grand Canyon Drive, Suite 102, 702-242-4670

Bite is the resurrection of the Sun City Cafe. Owner Andrey Ariza took the same great recipes and added a retro vibe for the new location. The interior brings to mind a 1950s diner complete with dinette-style tables and padded seats. The retro vibe ends there with modern touches such as three big-screen TVs and rocking music. The menu is big on breakfast options. Besides eggs, there’s a bone-in ham steak breakfast, country fried steak, corned beef hash, and New York strip steak with biscuits and gravy breakfast. Specialties include huevo rancheros, breakfast burger, short rib hash and eggs Florentine. There are four versions of eggs Benedict. Omelettes and skillet dishes include sun-dried tomato with spinach and mushroom, Spanish-style chicken, smoked salmon, crimini mushroom with jalapenos and avocado, and protein style with turkey. Omelettes also can be made with tofu. Pancakes come in 17 varieties and are served with warm syrup. They include lemon poppy seed, blueberry and granola, strawberry, buckwheat, cinnamon apple, and mint chocolate chip. French toast comes in banana nut, peanut butter and banana, Monte Cristo style, strawberry cream cheese, crunchy cinnamon raisin, and classic or wheat style. Waffles have five varieties including, sweet potato. Lunch offers a plethora of sandwiches such as tuna Manhattan (avocado, tomatoes and cheddar), grilled cheese made with sun-dried tomatoes and wraps with tuna, grilled chicken, turkey and bacon, chipotle, and veggie. Salads and burgers come in various styles. Burgers can be ordered classic or spicy, with turkey meat or as short rib sliders. The menu also features a South of the Border section with carne asada, enchiladas, tacos, fajitas and quesadillas. Bite is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
