Motorcyclist dies after crash in east Las Vegas
A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a pickup truck in the east Las Vegas Valley on Saturday morning, police said.
Police said a 2023 Kawasaki Ninja 400 motorcycle was heading east on East Washington Avenue just after 10:20 a.m. when it was approaching a yellow traffic light at Bruce Street at a “high rate of speed,” the Metropolitan Police Department said in a news release Saturday.
At the same time, a 1998 Ford F-150 pickup truck was heading west on Washington in the left turn lane, also approaching the yellow traffic signal at Bruce, police said.
When the truck entered the intersection to make a left turn, the motorcycle failed to stop at a red traffic light and crashed into the truck, according to Metro.
The motorcyclist, a 38-year-old Las Vegas man, was pronounced dead. His name wasn’t released.
The driver of the truck, a 64-year-old Las Vegas man, was transported to University Medical Center for his injuries. The truck driver did not show signs of impairment and cooperated with police, the news release said.
The motorcycle rider’s death was the 121st traffic-related death in Metro’s jurisdiction in 2025, police said.
