Cooling off coming Monday as temperatures drop to near 100
June 9, 2013 - 10:55 pm
A temperature dip of up to 10 degrees can be expected today and the next several days, according to the National Weather Service.
At 6:15 p.m. Sunday, the temperature was 110 degrees. The record high for this date is 111 degrees, set in 1955.
There were 16 heat-related emergency calls Sunday. Two people were transported to the hospital, but neither case was life-threatening.
The high for today is expected to be 102 degrees, with similar and even slightly lower predictions through the end of the week. Evenings will be in the 80 degree range.
Those lower temperatures are still above normal for this time of year in the Las Vegas area.
The drop in temperature does not indicate any approaching precipitation, the weather service said.
