The Clark County School District announced that it has filed a lawsuit to prevent the teachers union from taking threatened actions that amount to a strike.

“If we do not have an agreement with the school (district) by Aug. 26, our organization and our members will be taking a vote to engage in work actions,” said John Vellardita, CCEA executive director and chief negotiator.

The district announced the change in a news release Monday, saying events will be rescheduled “once labor contracts are in place with all employee bargaining units.”
Hiring events are underway this week for crossing guards, who must be at least 18 and work two hours a day.
