2 teens in custody in connection with double homicide in Las Vegas

Updated August 9, 2024 - 5:30 pm

A pair of 16-year-olds have been arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting that killed two people last month in the northeast Las Vegas Valley.

The teens were taken into custody Thursday, according to a Metropolitan Police Department release.

Erick Roque, 18, and Efrain Guevara, 20, were shot July 13 at a residence in the 3000 block of Kaibab Avenue, near Owens Avenue and Mojave Road, just after 11:45 p.m.

Officers responding to the scene found one man near a freeway who was pronounced dead. Police were then notified that a second man had arrived at Sunrise Hospital, where he was later also pronounced dead.

The organizer of a GoFundMe dedicated to Guevara wrote, “He was such a caring, loving, loyal, and genuine young man, just working to accomplish all his goals and make his family proud. God was ready for you, but our hearts were not. You were loved by many.”
