Updated June 30, 2025 - 3:11 pm

The Metropolitan Police Department investigated a shooting early Wednesday morning that left a man dead in the central Las Vegas Valley.

According to police, the shooting occurred at 2:53 a.m. in the 500 block of Royal Crest Circle. Arriving officers located an apartment with a broken window and an open door.

Police said officers found a man, identified by the Clark County coroner’s office Monday as Mykel Brown, 40, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds inside the apartment.

Authorities say medical personnel pronounced Brown dead at the scene. The coroner’s office on Monday said Brown’s died from multiple gunshot wounds and ruled his death a homicide.

Homicide detectives learned that another male ran from the apartment to a vehicle moments after the shooting.

“The vehicle then drove off at a high rate of speed from the apartment complex,” police said.
