Ask Heidi Anything: Where can I get good nachos?

In my ever quest for better food, I emailed our food critic Heidi Knapp Rinella with this pressing and important interruption. Here’s our email exchange.

Hi Heidi,

Isn’t there anywhere in Vegas, on the Strip or off, where I can get good nachos? The only places I can think of offhand are Three Angry Wives and Steiner’s, although the nachos at those suburban hangouts are basic workaday nachos, I think.

If you’re looking for good nachos, I’d suggest Nacho Daddy, which has been on Eastern Avenue in Henderson for a few years and just opened in downtown Las Vegas, on Fourth Street.

They say they’re dedicated to taking nachos “off the appetizer menu and giving them a new nacho-nality,” which they interpret in things like Nacho Average Burger Nachos, Buffalo Hot Nachos and BBQ Pulled Pork Nachos downtown, and, on the more extensive Henderson menu, Thai Chicken Nachos, Spicy Shrimp Nachos and Florentine Nachos. Or, if you want, you can get the more familiar Supreme Tostada Nachos. All of the versions are interesting, fresh and just really good, with a great topping-to-chip ratio.
