Best of Las Vegas tip: Great minds think alike on a few categories in our annual poll

Our readers are pretty smart, especially when they agree with our choices in the annual Best of Las Vegas poll. It doesn't happen all that often, so it ought to carry some weight when our picks align in the five categories we're highlighting today.

Why not make a day of it?

First off, round up your friends. And whether you're texting, tweeting or just plain old talking, Verizon is the concensus pick for favorite cell service provider.

Might as well enjoy some of what Vegas has to offer, and that means gambling. If the table games intimidate you, pull up a seat at the Palms for the best paying slots in town. It's a terrific place to people-watch between spins. If you like a little more action, get ready to double down at the El Cortez downtown. It's a little off the beaten path, but we agree with our readers' vote for the best place to play blackjack.

OK, OK, not exactly the wholesome entertainment you're looking for?

Then how 'bout cupcakes and bowling. Now that's something the kids can get excited about. And the Oh My Gosh -- Ganache delights at The Cupcakery will surely fuel you up for an afternoon of bowling. Red Rock Lanes is as glam as it gets for setting 'em up and knocking 'em down. Cosmic, man.

It's not really our MO, agreeing on so many things, so next week we'll venture out in another direction again. In the meantime, you can visit the Best of Las Vegas website for more recommendations on things to do and places to go, or check out the links to the winners listed below.

Best Blackjack -- El Cortez

Best Paying Slots -- The Palms

Best Bowling Lanes -- Red Rock Lanes

Best Cupcakes -- The Cupcakery
