‘Book of Mormon’ headed to Smith Center; tickets on sale Dec. 14

The doorbell’s ringing for “The Book of Mormon’s” upcoming visit to downtown’s Smith Center for the Performing Arts.

Single tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Dec. 14 for the irreverent, Tony-winning musical; American Express card holders get a two-day head start on the presale, from 10 a.m. Dec. 11 through 11:59 p.m. Dec. 12.

“The Book of Mormon,” which wraps up The Smith Center’s 2013-14 Broadway season, will run June 10 to July 6 in the center’s Reynolds Hall.

Tickets — priced at $39 to $150 — will be available at The Smith Center’s box office, 361 Symphony Park Ave., online at www.thesmithcenter.com or by phone at 702-749-2000. Group orders of 10 or more may be placed by calling 702-749-2348.

Created by the “South Park” team of Trey Parker and Matt Stone, along with “Avenue Q” veteran Robert Lopez, “The Book of Mormon” captured nine Tony Awards for the Broadway production — including best musical.

Parker, Stone and Lopez also won Tonys for their musical score and book; Parker and director Casey Nicholaw (“Spamalot,” “The Drowsy Chaperone”) shared a Tony for their direction of the show, which focuses on young Mormon missionaries and their adventures in Uganda.
