The 5 most successful ‘Friday Night Lights’ alums

“Star-Crossed” (8 p.m. Monday, KVCW-TV, Channel 33) follows the relationship between a teenage girl (Aimee Teegarden) and an alien boy (Matt Lanter) when he and six fellow former inhabitants of the planet Atria are integrated into a Louisiana high school.

It’s basically “Romeo & Juliet” with aliens. Or a “Roswell” where the extraterrestrials are out and proud.

But while it fits nicely into The CW’s brand of teen angst with a sci-fi/fantasy twist, “Star-Crossed” is most notable for reuniting “Friday Night Lights” cast members Teegarden (Julie Taylor) and Grey Damon (Hastings Ruckle, who showed up in “FNL’s” fifth and final season).

The three years since the beloved drama left the air have been kinder to some of its stars than others.

Gaius Charles (Brian “Smash” Williams) scrubbed into “Grey’s Anatomy” back in 2012, and Scott Porter (Jason Street) has put in a good run on The CW’s “Hart of Dixie.”

Adrianne Palicki (Tyra Collette) held her own in “Red Dawn” and “G.I. Joe: Retaliation.”

But Minka Kelly (Lyla Garrity), currently starring in Fox’s “Almost Human,” has made fewer headlines for her acting than for her love life, having dated everyone from Derek Jeter to Chris Evans.

To mark the “Star-Crossed” debut, here’s a look at the five most successful “Friday Night Lights” alums:

1) Taylor Kitsch (Tim Riggins): His life after Dillon, Texas, got off to a rocky start with lead roles in the box-office bombs “John Carter” and “Battleship,” followed by the little seen “Savages.” But 2014 seems to be going his way after reuniting with “FNL” creator Pete Berg for a showy role in “Lone Survivor.”

2) Kyle Chandler (Coach Eric Taylor): He’s been on the sidelines in most of his recent projects, turning in memorable supporting performances in three best-picture Oscar nominees: “Argo,” “Zero Dark Thirty” and this year’s “The Wolf of Wall Street.”

3) Connie Britton (Tami Taylor): She was impregnated by a gimp-suit-wearing ghost in the first — and so far best — season of FX’s “American Horror Story,” but escaped in time to be nominated for a Golden Globe for her role as country music diva Rayna James on ABC’s “Nashville.” Most impressively, her remarkable hair has multiple Twitter accounts.

4) Michael B. Jordan (Vince Howard): He showed the most potential of any of the cast’s young stars with his Oscar-worthy turn in last year’s “Fruitvale Station.” Now he’s been tapped to play Johnny Storm in the “Fantastic Four” reboot due out next year.

5) Jesse Plemons (Landry Clarke): Three words: “Breaking Bad’s” Todd. That is all.
