Taste of the Town: best Italian subs

It seems as if every deli and sandwich shop serves an Italian sub, but which ones are the best? Fellow Taste of the Town readers have suggestions for Hank Miller, who wrote in search of advice.

Al Wirtzbaum and Zuzana Eissler both were effusive in their praise for ParmeZan Subs at 10720 S. Eastern Ave. in Henderson.

ParmeZan’s The Godfather, Eissler emailed, “is an absolute Italian masterpiece: Prosciutto d’Parma, mortadella, capicola, Genoa, ham, fresh Polly-O mozzarella, aged provolone, roasted red peppers, slow-roasted red and yellow tomatoes, fresh basil, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pepperoncini and ParmeZan’s own sun-dried tomato balsamic vinaigrette served on a homemade semolina roll. The sub is one of a kind!”

Wirtzbaum liked The Underboss and also The Godfather, “more expensive because it includes Prosciutto d’Parma and capicola,” he wrote. He also recommends The Alvino Panini.

Laura Crowton recommended The Original Italian, served Mike’s Way, at Jersey Mike’s Subs, which has seven locations in the valley, and Ann Brown recommended Villa Pizza, Rocco’s and Capriotti’s, all of which have multiple locations here. …

For Morgan Blakeley, who’s looking for Farm Rich snacks, Crowton reported seeing many of them at Dollar General at 5675 S. Rainbow Blvd. (Dollar General has more than a dozen stores in the area.) And Brown spotted them at the WalMart Supercenter at 5200 S. Fort Apache Road. …

More on veal patties: Beverly Villeneuve emailed that they’re available at Glazier’s Food Marketplace, 8525 W. Warm Springs Road. …

More on chicken mole: Crowton recommends the mole served in several varieties at Frank &Fina’s Cocina at 4175 S. Grand Canyon Drive. …

More on Nathan’s Deli Pickles: Jan Visser emailed that they’re available at the Sprouts Farmers Market at 635 S. Green Valley Parkway in Henderson; there are four other Sprouts locations in the valley. …

More on New England-style lobster rolls: Jennifer Esposito recommends Mon Ami Gabi at Paris Las Vegas, 3655 Las Vegas Blvd. South. …

And more on blood sausage: Lesley Warren recommends the sausage sold at the Hungarian Market at 6380 S. Eastern Ave.
