Dining Pick of the Week: Honey Cakes Cafe

Honey Cakes Cafe

6475 N. Decatur Blvd. Suite 135, 702-826-3213

There’s a new bakery in the neighborhood, and it comes bearing sweet treats. Honey Cakes Cafe opened a few months ago, and despite its small size, it already has attracted quite a crowd. The bakery designed like a cafe is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Although its specialties are the desserts displayed up front, there’s more to the bakery than its colorful macaroons, cupcakes and gelatos. Breakfast items include sandwiches, steak and eggs, omelets and fluffy crepes filled with your choice of sausage, egg, cheese, ham and bacon or Bananas Foster or seasonal fruit with pineapple, peach or strawberry. Other breakfast options include Meat Lover’s or vegetarian quiche casseroles, French toast and red velvet pancakes. For lunch and dinner, Honey Cakes serves jerk-roasted chicken with red beans and rice and fruit salsa, barbecue beef brisket, a variety of sandwiches, burgers, soups and salads. The menu also offers appetizers such as shrimp Alfredo, crepes and tempura onion rings. In addition, coffee, espressos and sweet and moist honey cakes are available. Dishes range from $6.95 to $12.75, and takeout is available. Honey Cakes Cafe is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
