Dining Pick of the Week: Skyline Restaurant

Skyline Restaurant

Skyline Casino, 1741 N. Boulder Highway, 702-565-9116

The Skyline has been around for decades with very little change, and that seems to be the way patrons like it. The restaurant is accessed through the casino, which features old-school low ceilings and chrome mirrors. There is also a working old-time barbershop and a display of one-armed bandit-style slot machines. Several electric trains run along tracks near the ceiling of the restaurant, providing folksy charm and low-impact entertainment. Meat and potatoes in large portions feature prominently on the restaurant’s menu. Favorites include steak and eggs, New York strip steak sandwich and chicken fried steak. Appetizers include the $2.95 World Famous Shrimp Cocktail, chicken fingers and wings, onion rings, french fries and vegetable egg rolls. There are also several varieties of hamburgers, including the Texas burger with sliced jalapenos. Pasta dishes include fettuccine Alfredo and seafood dishes include jumbo fried shrimp and orange roughy. Most food items cost between $4 and $15. Finish your meal with a slice of cake or pie ($4.95 to $3.95). There are daily specials, and breakfast is served all day. The Skyline is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday. Visit skylinehenderson.com.
