Dining Pick of the Week: Yard House

Yard House

Town Square Las Vegas, 6593 Las Vegas Blvd. South, 702-734-9273; The Linq, 3545 Las Vegas Blvd. South, 702-597-0434; Red Rock Resort, 11011 W. Charleston Blvd., 702-363-9273

Yard House is the type of ale lovers’ heaven that craft beer enthusiasts probably dream about. More than 100 taps and a changing chalkboard of brews from all over the world can be found here, along with classic rock music (appropriately cranked) and a variety of sports shown on the flat-screen TVs that populate the place. If you’re looking for wine and polite conversation over a backdrop of gentle Bach, you should probably keep looking —but if beer, tunes and consistently tasty food are what you’re after, look no further. There are three Yard Houses spread across the Las Vegas Valley now, with the newest, the multi-story location at The Linq, being your best bet for a no-wait table line on a Friday night. The beer is available in a shorty, a goblet (pint) or by the half yard. There are also an array of beer cocktails and floats (Young’s Chocolate Stout with vanilla ice cream, anyone?) and non-beer cocktails. The menu is one of those chapter deals segregated by the type of cuisine: snacks, appetizers, steak and ribs, seafood, pizza, burgers and House Favorites, and that’s not even half the list. My favorite is the Parmesan-crusted chicken (found under House Favorites), served with mashed potatoes and sun-dried tomato and three-mushroom sauce. The snacks are Yard House’s take on small plates, and they are a little off the beaten path for most chain establishments: ahi sliders, truffle fries, deviled eggs and grilled Korean pork belly taco. Entree prices average $15 to $20. Yard House is open at 11 a.m. daily. Closing times vary by location. For more information, visit yardhouse.com.
