Get Lucky on Sunday at new restaurant

You’ll be able to get Lucky — or at least Lucky Foo’s — if the restaurant opens as expected Sunday at 8955 S. Eastern Ave.

It’s in a strip center near the intersection of Eastern Avenue and I-215, in a location formerly occupied by a Melting Pot and, if memory serves, a sushi place.

Lucky Foo’s calls itself “American Izakaya,” which basically is a Japanese bar that serves food. The “American” part comes in through American culinary twists and a few Mediterranean touches, and how American is that whole melting-pot thing?

Anyway, Lucky Foo’s has a Japanese robata grill that burns binchotan charcoal at 1,000 degrees, all the better to sear the signature Foo Burger, steaks and more.

Other dishes include fried tofu with quail egg and enoki mushrooms, and shishito peppers with pickled swiss chard stems and creamy tofu dressing, shown.

You can partake of those in the tatami-mat-lined Foo Square or in the Belly of the Dragon dining room, or on the Buddha patio, among a fountain, reclaimed Asian art elements and 17 high-definition television screens.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. daily. Call 702-650-0669.
