View Dining Pick of the Week: Pizza Forte

Pizza Forte

Sunset Station, 1301 W. Sunset Road, 702-470-0834

Traditional Italian families are generally known for food and tight-knit bonds, and the Ferraro family is no exception. Italy native Gino Ferraro and his wife, Rosalba, opened Ferraro’s Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar 30 years ago (the current location is at 4480 Paradise Road). Now, following in their footsteps, their son Mimmo has opened Pizza Forte. The restaurant opened in April inside Sunset Station, and there are plans to add nine locations in the next two years, including one at the Hard Rock Hotel, 4455 Paradise Road, later this spring. With a name loosely translated to mean “powerful pizza,” the casual restaurant’s pizza is its strong point. Toppings include pepperoni, sausage, onions, black olives, bell peppers, mushrooms, bacon, pineapple, meatballs and Canadian bacon. A variety of New York-based Hofmann hot dogs (beef, pork/beef and pork/veal) are offered, along with meatball sandwiches and Italian deserts, such as cannolis and tiramisu. Gluten-free options are available. Most menu items range from $2.50 to $6.50. Pizza Forte opens at 11 a.m. daily. For more information, visit pizza-forte.com.
