Lady Gaga rumored to perform in space

Lady Gaga is set to become the first performer to sing in outer space, according to a report by Us Weekly.

The artist will sing while orbiting Earth aboard a Virgin Galactic ship during the Zero G Colony music festival in early 2015. The high-tech festival will take place at Spaceport America in New Mexico.

Gaga will perform one song at dawn on the third day of the festival, according to the magazine. She’ll have to do a month of voice training in preparation.

A source told Us Weekly “Gaga has taken out a ridiculous life insurance policy!”

The singer has neither confirmed nor denied the rumors, which surfaced Wednesday. She did repost a tweet from Us Weekly promoting the story, though, and tweeted #GagaInSpace2015 a short while later. She said she’d address the rumors on Sunday at the launch of her new album.

“Find out if the rumors are true 11.10 LIVE from ARTPOP’s album launch,” she tweeted. “Will #VirginGalactic+#ZeroGColony send Gaga to sing LIVE from space?”

If Gaga does end up in space, she’ll head there about half a year after Virgin Galactic plans to begin making commercial flights to space.
