M Resort pool caters to those trying to avoid Strip craziness, prices

If you're looking to experience a Strip pool party but don't want to actually pay for it, Daydream at M Resort might be the place for you.

This pool season, Daydream aims to provide locals with an affordable, upscale dayclub experience, says Jeff Kenkel, M Resort's director of operations. The goal is to offer the same amenities but at a much lower price.

For instance, cabana food and beverage minimums will be $350 on weekends, compared to $1,000 on the Strip, Kenkel says. There is no cover charge for local women, and local men get in for $10, a bit more on special event days.

DJs will spin house, top 40 and dance music, and guests can take part in a variety of games, such as beer pong. The usual pool party accoutrements will be on hand, too, such as Supersoakers, Kenkel says.

"We're going local-friendly. We understand that not everyone wants to go to the Strip every weekend, so we want to offer them the same things they get everywhere else," Kenkel says. "You're not going to see the crazy out-of-town atmosphere you'll get at other venues. We're not looking to compete with those other venues, so it won't be over the top."

Daybeds are available for $100 to $200, depending on the day, Kenkel says. On Mondays and Fridays, chaise lounges are free, on a first-come, first served basis. On weekends, there's a $50 minimum for a chaise.

Hours are 11 a.m. until sunset, Fridays through Mondays, at the pool at 12300 Las Vegas Blvd. South. For reservations, call 797-1808.
