29 felony narcotic arrests made at EDC night 1

The first night of the glow-stick, tutu and electronic music filled festival, known as the Electric Daisy Carnival officially kicked off its three-day weekend festivities Friday night for 2014.

Las Vegas police had several officers patrolling the event and reported six misdemeanor arrests and 29 drug-related felony arrests were made the first night, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Two of the arrests were DUI for alcohol and there were no DUI arrests made that were drug-related.

Approximately 249 medical calls were made, though most turned out to be minor. Five people were transported to a hospital nearby.

Insomniac Productions reported that about 134,000 people showed up Friday night and only four people were ejected from the event.

Traffic was expected to come from the event and Nevada Highway Patrol reported heavy traffic on Las Vegas Boulevard at about 4 a.m. NHP said the traffic leaving EDC went great and there were no serious incidents. Metro also reported only six traffic accidents, none were fatal.
