Imagine Dragons featured in new ads for Las Vegas

Local band Imagine Dragons are featured in new advertisements as part of the city’s “What Happens Here, Stays Here” campaign.

The indie-rock band teamed up with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority to make two ads that debut Monday with creative crew R&R, one promoting the band’s upcoming yet-to-be-named sophomore release and the other featuring the destination of Las Vegas.

The ads were shot on location at the SLS Las Vegas and at the MGM Grand casino-hotels, costing $1.2 million to produce.

One features a man, the other a woman, who crisscross Las Vegas, running into each other during a fire-breathing act, a nightclub, a concert venue and poolside at a Las Vegas resort.

“Las Vegas is a place where anything can happen,” Rob Dondero with R&R Partners said about the message of the ads.

The tourism agency is spending $7.6 million on airtime on national stations NBC, ABC, E!, Bravo, Fox, Food Network, USA, Travel Channel and several others.

“We’re in debt to Vegas,” lead singer and Las Vegas local Dan Reynolds said in interviews filmed by R&R. “We really owe everything to Vegas.”
