All mortgage lenders are not created equal

You know what happens when you pick up the phone and call Premier Mortgage Lending? A real person answers the phone and helps you. If you don’t think that’s a big deal, Rick Piette, owner of Las Vegas-based Premier Mortgage, would like to ask you to think again.

“Premier is a small, local business, and we make it a point to get to know our clients. We meet with you face to face. Our loan officers have decades of experience and have worked with us for years, and we truly make the effort to provide the best service possible. That means being there for you when you need us. Why? Because we don’t want to help you with just one loan — we want to be your lender for life. And that’s a right we know we have to earn,” Piette explained.

“Now, think back to the last time you called your bank about a mortgage loan. You probably got a recording and were told to punch in numbers to reach the right department. Maybe you were on hold for a while or finally reached a voicemail box to leave a message. Or maybe you got disconnected and had to start all over again.

“Would you like to know why that is?” Piette asked. “It’s because big banks have put a lot of effort into minimizing the amount of time they actually interact with their customers. They have to pay employees to do that, so ‘automation’ is their answer to customer service; because not talking to customers makes them money. So what if it costs the customer (that’s you) a lot more time and effort? Clearly, that’s not what matters to them.”

That’s an important distinction to Piette. He’s been a mortgage lender and member of the Las Vegas community for more than a quarter of a century. He knows this city, he knows this business, and he’s dedicated to bringing his customers the very best service and mortgage loans for the lowest possible cost.

Choosing a broker like Premier Mortgage, which has the freedom to work with many lenders at once on a borrower’s behalf, means customers have access to a wide variety of different mortgage loan programs.

“At Premier, we offer FHA (Federal Housing Administration), VA (Veterans Affairs) and conventional loans, as well as our true ‘No Fee’ loan. The No Fee literally charges $0 for loan origination, document, underwriting and processing fees,” Piette said. “But we also offer other loans for those with unique situations.

“For example, take our new ‘1% Down Loan Program.’ There’s no smoke and mirrors here — it really requires only 1 percent of the purchase price as a down payment. This is a 30-year fixed loan, so interest and payments never change, and it’s helped many buyers get into a home sooner than they thought possible. Plus, there’s one more perk: The lender contributes an additional 2 percent down at closing, so buyers have 3 percent equity right out of the gate.

“Then there’s our ‘2nd Chance Financing.’ Many people have a short sale or a foreclosure in their history from the economic crash. To help, Premier developed this program specifically to help our local neighbors and friends get back into their own home again. Hundreds of families have benefited from it, and we couldn’t be happier being part of making that happen.”
