Pulte renovates apartment complex in central valley

Pulte Homes, one of the nation’s largest homebuilders, which has been building in Southern Nevada since 1991, recently completed work on a 6,700-square-foot apartment complex encompassing eight units at 497 Calcaterra Circle near Flamingo and Paradise roads in the center of the Las Vegas Valley.

Pulte and its trade partners contributed labor and materials to complete a full renovation of the complex, including flooring, electrical, plumbing fixtures, new appliances, interior and exterior paint, exterior stucco and trim, new iron gates, access to the building’s air conditioning and a new on-site storage shed.

The project, comprising eight units, was one of more than 22 units at the project site at Calcaterra Circle on which local homebuilders have been working since 2015 to renovate more than 21,910 square feet at a total project value of nearly $700,000 in labor and materials.

The project is one of several organized and overseen by HomeAid Southern Nevada, the philanthropic and community outreach arm of Southern Nevada Home Builders Association.

HomeAid secures partners from the construction and homebuilding industry to complete shelter build projects for the homeless in our community.

HomeAid then partners with nonprofits that help to identify qualifying residents in need of housing. These organizations include Family Promise of Las Vegas, Veterans Village and Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada.

“The mission of HomeAid Southern Nevada to provide quality shelter for the homeless in our community is transformational and life-affirming,” said Brandon Laughter, division vice president of construction for PulteGroup.

“We can think of no better way to give back to the community than to contribute to such a noble and worthy effort that gives those in need a sense of independence and dignity. We applaud HomeAid for its efforts and look forward to our next project.”

The Southern Nevada Home Builders Association was founded in 1953 by 12 local homebuilders and incorporated with the state in 1954. It ranks as the oldest and largest local trade organization representing the residential construction industry in Nevada. It has nearly 500 members working in all facets of the homebuilding industry.

It is an affiliate of the National Association of Home Builders, a Washington, D.C.-based trade association founded in 1942 to enhance the climate for housing and the building industry. NAHB is made up of about 800 state and local associations. About one-third of NAHB’s 140,000 members are homebuilders and remodelers.

In 2014, the SNHBA adopted HomeAid Southern Nevada as its official outreach partner.

The partnership has resulted in more than $1.2 million given back through the shelter construction projects, which are made possible by the generosity of builder trades and suppliers. For more information, visit homeaidsn.org.
