LV Neon 97 win Presidents Cup soccer title

The LV Neon 97 won the 2014 U.S. Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup July 13 in Greenville, S.C., in the under-17 boys category. This is the first time a Las Vegas team has won the tournament. The team is coached by Jorge A. Lorza and Jose Perez.

The LV Neon 97 were among 40 participating U.S. Youth Soccer boys and girls teams in the under-13 through under-17 age groups that came from all over the country to compete for a national title. LV Neon defeated SASA Spirits Blue from Illinois, 2-0. Genero Corona opened the scoring in the 27th minute, and Brian Panameno secured the match with a goal in the 83rd minute. In addition, goalkeeper Nishesh Yadav was awarded the 2014 U.S. Youth Soccer Goalkeeper of the Tournament Award.

The U.S. Youth Soccer Presidents Cup is designed for teams seeking additional challenges to play for a national title against teams of similar abilities. The cup provides a progressive, competitive experience to teams that might not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in a series of unique experiences highlighting competition, camaraderie and community from the state to regional to national levels of U.S. Youth Soccer.
