Updated December 26, 2017 - 7:49 pm

A scooter driver was killed Tuesday afternoon after a crash in the northeastern valley.

Just before 12:40 p.m., police said a woman driving a motorized scooter was hit by a Nissan Sentra after the car ran a red light at the intersection of East Bonanza Road and Linn Lane, near Nellis Boulevard. The scooter driver was taken to University Medical Center, where police said she later died.

The 62-year-old woman will be identified by the Clark County coroner’s office after her family has been notified of her death.

The 17-year-old driver of the car stayed at the scene and impairment was not suspected. An 11-year-old passenger in the car suffered minor injuries.

The woman’s death marks the 133rd traffic-related death the Metropolitan Police Department has investigated this year.
